Organization & flexibility in our movements :

We’re going for adventure ! Far away from the holiday resort clubs and the guided tours, we want to meet the people and their culture. According to where we are, the habits are changing. So it is for us traveling, as we get to feel the local vibes, we tune ourselves to those who welcome us all and to the environment. In a certain way, non-organisation becomes a necessity in countries where time is blured and relative to each individual. Our project, multi-morphic, will be setting around the local ways.

Also, from our various back-packing experiences, we learnt the feeling of freedom. This is another good reason to only plan the less we can. Our commun desires will be the driving force of the project.

ITINERARY:

Concretly the whole trip will be sub-divised in 3 seasons (but we’ll only get summer for a year!):
First of all, the “sedentary trip” in south-Asia; then the Middle-Orient path, less sedentary, some more nomad; and finaly the big European tour, with its summertime happy-crazy nomadism.

FROM 15TH NOVEMBER TO MARCH: INDIA + ???

India is a really an intense experience! For that reason, we can’t predict what will be calling us week by week. We define a one-month first step to gather, but then it will be hard to predict where we will be more than a month before. Between mid december to march we will be standing where the wind blows us. That’s why we are called the Aeolian Tribe!
We won’t hichhikke in India for this behavior is completely unknown there (http://hitchwiki.org/en/India ). We will take trains, boats, buses, whatever is needed. The particular conditions of the public transportation is part of the indian folklor and it will certainly feed some of your funny traveling stories!

We will start in Rajasthan, to meet the Kalbelia, an ancestral gypsy tribe based in north of India, also called “the snake tribe” for their affinities with those creatures.
(Watch Latcho Drom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bAOhNTZhsk or Cobra Gypsy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNUYGRn3W9Q ! ;D )

So first step of the trip, and first meeting point will be at Pushkar (Rajasthan) during its famous Camel Fair (15 – 23 November). We will be camping at the Kalbelia’s camp (bring some things to give to the gypsy school if you can!). We may go to a temple celebration in Jaiselmer on the 22th of November, but it will depend on the availability of the trains and the energy of the tribe (we will have just arrived, we may need some time to adapt…)
We will stay in Pushkar for at least a month, as there are many artists from whom we can learn. We may as well stay 3 months in Pushkar, to really dig into the local vibes. Anyway once we got enougth of it, we will go for a slow-motion roadtrip around India.

FROM MARCH TO MAY: GEORGIA & TURKEY

Around march/april we will be flying to Georgia, small country which history and culture has been quite influenced by his powerful neighbourgs: Russia and Turkey. This mix of oriental and slavic influences to which is added the purely georgian arts and traditions, gave the rise to a great bunch of awesome music, dance styles and crazy acrobatics.
There hichhikking is easy, even the police cars will stop to drive you ( http://hitchwiki.org/en/Georgia ). We will be doing small groups to hitchhikke, those who prefer to take the public transportation will do as they like.

Then we will be heading up to Turkey. There also it’s easy to be taken hitchhikking, but as the women travelers often suffer from prejudices, the cases of sexual harassments are very frequent. As the tribe will probably count more female members than male ones, we will probably split into mixte couples and the rest of us will take the train or buses. Although the agressions are rare, we will discourage our female members to travel by their own there.

FROM MAY TO SEPTEMBER: EUROPEAN TOUR

We will decide week-to-week what to do, where to go next. Eventualy we will get a car to transport our heavy materials for the shows, cause this part will be the most hectic of them all! We will do as much hitchhikking and wild camping as possible. We will produce shows in the streets, on stages, in events and festivals, we will be giving initiations, animations in schools, talkings etc etc… The aim is to share our experiences and to get shit lots of money to go for the next travel (boatchikking to South America and heading up till Canada? Wanna bet we can’t?) or your own personnal project.
